What is a basket filter?

Basket filter is used in oil or other liquid pipelines to filter debris in the pipeline, and the area of filtering holes is more than 2-3 times larger than the area of the pass-through pipe, which is far more than the filtering area of Y-type and T-type filters. Filter precision in the filter belongs to a kind of filter with the best precision, and the structure of the filter is different from other filters because of the shape like a basket, so it is called basket filter.

Basket filter is mainly composed of receiver, cylinder, filter basket, flange, flange cover and fasteners. Installed on the pipeline, it can remove the larger solid impurities in the fluid, so that the machinery and equipment (including compressors, pumps, etc.) and instrumentation can work and operate normally, and achieve the role of stabilising the process and guaranteeing safe production.

Basket filter is a small equipment to remove small solid particles in the fluid, which can protect the normal work of compressor, pump, instrument and others. When the fluid enters the filter drum with certain specifications of filter mesh, its impurities are blocked, while the clean filtrate is discharged from the filter outlet, when cleaning is needed, just take out the removable filter drum and reload it after treatment, so it is extremely convenient to use and maintain.

Basket filter has been widely used in petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, environmental protection and other industries.

If it is installed in series at the entrance of the pump or other parts of the system pipeline, it can prolong the service life of the pump and other equipment, and ensure the safety of the whole system.

The working principle of the basket filter:

Pipes in the installation of other debris will be brought into the pipeline, in the production of raw materials also contain debris. When the liquid in the pipeline passes through the filter, its dirt is collected by the filter into the screen, and the screen can be cleaned by opening the shell cover at a certain level.

Cleaning method:

When cleaning is needed, unscrew the screw plug at the bottom of the main pipe, drain the fluid, disassemble the flange cover, and reload it after cleaning.

Selection principles:

1. Inlet and outlet diameter:

In principle, the inlet and outlet diameters of the filter should not be smaller than the inlet diameter of the matching pump, generally the same calibre as the inlet pipeline.

2. Nominal pressure:

In accordance with the highest possible pressure filter pipeline to determine the pressure level of the filter. 

3. The choice of the number of holes:

Mainly consider the size of the impurities to be intercepted, based on the media process requirements. Various specifications of the screen can intercept the size of the particle size check the following table "filter specifications".

Classification of basket filter:

1. Straight-through flat-bottomed basket filter;

2. Straight-through curved-bottom basket filter;

3. High and low takeover flat bottom basket filter;

4. High and low takeover arc bottom basket filter.

2. Can effectively avoid the destruction of water resources;

Repair and maintenance:

1. The core part of the filter is the filter core, which consists of the filter frame and stainless steel wire mesh, and the stainless steel wire mesh is a wear-and-tear part and needs special protection; 

2. When the filter works for a period of time, a certain amount of impurities are deposited in the filter core, at which time the pressure drop increases and the flow rate decreases, and it is necessary to remove the impurities in the filter core in a timely manner; 

3. When cleaning impurities, pay special attention to the stainless steel wire mesh on the filter core cannot be deformed or damaged, otherwise, the damaged filter core will make the purity of the filtered medium fail to meet the design requirements, and the compressor, pump, instrumentation and other equipment will be damaged;     

4. If the stainless steel wire mesh is found to be deformed or damaged, it needs to be replaced immediately.
